Q: Why should I use Water-Jel or Burn-Jel?
|
|
A: Both products provide instant relief from pain!
They are water-soluble and draw out the heat of a burn, while
simultaneously cooling the skin and protecting the skin from any
airborne contaminations. By applying either product, burn
progression may be slowed. There is no other product on the
market that performs like WATER-JEL and Burn –Jel for treating
the pain of a burn.
|
Q: What are the active ingredients in both?
|
|
A: The WATER-JEL dressings are saturated with the cool gel, while Burn-Jel
comes in a liquid form, either in small packets or in a squeeze bottle. Both
treatments include melaleuca, a natural Tea Tree extract, which is proven to
have strong anti-bacterial properties. Burn-Jel also contains
lidocaine. These products can be found on the Order Now page.
|
Q: What is the difference between WATER-JEL and Burn- Jel?
|
|
A: Burn- Jel is intended for minor spot burns- that is, small burns that
are painful, but not necessarily serious. WATER-JEL dressings are
intended for use on burns that may be more serious or cover a larger
area of the body.
|
Q: When should I use either product?
|
|
A: You’ll most likely know the situation, because you will feel it.
Have either Water -Jel sterile dressings or Burn -Jel packages or
easy squeeze bottle stored in your kitchen and bathroom. It’s also
a good idea to have it handy when you are cooking outdoors.
In the kitchen, minor burn situations can often occur, and most
involve scalding water. You’ve probably experienced it yourself
while pouring boiling water for a cup of tea or a bowl of soup. You
have also been in the kitchen when someone touches a hot item
that has been taken out of the oven or off the stove top; pulls
something out of the microwave, or touches the handle of a hot
pot or pan.
In the bathroom, people often burn themselves in curling irons or
hot rollers, or may have bath water too hot.
When cooking outdoors, be careful to watch for burning yourself on
a metal skewer, or the utensils you are cooking with, and be
especially careful of the burning fire.
If, at any time you think that a situation requires medical attention,
call your doctor or local emergency room.
|
Q: Can these products be used on chemical burns?
|
|
A: WATER-JEL can be used on chemical burns which act like thermal
burns. In the case of chemical burns, the protocol for the specific
chemical must be followed before applying WATER-JEL to insure that
the chemical is flushed from the area. Since the gel is 96% water, it
should not be used with chemicals that are highly reactive to water;
additionally, in the case of electrical burns, the power source should be
disconnected before applying WATER-JEL. WATER-JEL should not
be used on “cold” or “freezer burns”.
|
Q: Do WATER-JEL products have an expiration date?
What happens if the product is expired?
|
|
A: Because we want to offer high quality products at all times, our
products have undergone stability testing to insure the effectiveness
for a given length of time. The expiration date indicates that the
product -- if not opened -- will be stable and effective until that date.
WATER-JEL topical gels have a three year shelf life. The expiration
date will be noted on the packaging near the lot number. WATER-JEL
Sterile Burn Dressings have a five year shelf life, and the expiration
date can be found on the label near the lot number. You’ll recognize it
because the letters EXP will appear before the date. If your
WATER-JEL product has expired, then it should be discarded and
replaced. The gel, since it is non-toxic, can be disposed of in the regular
trash. No special handling is required. |
