Fire Chief Craig Clarke, of Track Rescue, a private fire department that works exclusively with motor sports safety, has used the product at the track and has also experienced the product first hand. "When we are working at an International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) or USAR Hooters ProCup event, we have a team of professionals, including Physicians, Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians, on site at all times. On one particular occasion we had a driver splashed with fuel and the fuel found an ignition source, which resulted in burns on approximately 30% of his body. We used the Water-Jel product on him which significantly reduced his pain and suffering," according to Clarke. He was then transported to a Regional Burn Center, where he was treated for his injuries.
"Our team also uses Water-Jel for minor incidents that occur in and around the race tracks. This product works. Water-Jel lifts out the heat and heals the skin. I personally suffered a minor burn, and applied the gel. The next day the blister, heat and redness had disappeared," he said.
Clarke has been a Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)/Fire Chief for the past 22 years, and has also worked in the emergency room of a large regional hospital for over 10 years.
Kelly Dunkling, a registered nurse and nursing coordinator at the Boston, MA-based Joslin Diabetes Center Children's Diabetic Camp, told of an incident where a camp staff person was lighting a fire and the fire ended up "burning his face. The health care professionals on site applied Water-Jel immediately to his face, and the area where he had been covered with the gel ended up not having any scars. We thank you very much for this product, because without it we could have had a major accident on our hands. It's great to have a product like this on hand, especially at a camp where we have 500 children," she said in a testimonial letter to the company.
"Last year, I was driving back from a diving trip when the van started steaming," said Chris La Coma, an EMT. "Our Fire Department has been a long time user of Water-Jel products for burns. Recently, we were dispatched to a home explosion. When we arrived, we were confronted with a patient who had 2nd degree burns to the face, arm and legs. While grilling out, a bug zapper above the grill broke and fell down, hitting a spray paint can which sent paint spraying, igniting the grill, which the patient was standing in front of. When we arrived, she was sitting in her front yard, with her husband wetting her down with a hose. We immediately grabbed the burn kit and opened our Water-Jel products.
